How much does moving cost in Finland?
Real numbers from thousands of moves in the Helsinki region — what drives the price, what a typical move costs, and how to genuinely pay less.
How do moving companies price in Finland?
Almost every Finnish moving company charges by the hour: a rate that covers the truck, the movers, fuel and equipment. Our rates are from €90/hour for a 20–30 m³ truck with 2 movers, and from €120/hour for a 30–40 m³ truck with 3 movers — protective wrapping, fuel and kilometers included; disassembly and packing help are extras with their own prices. Some companies also offer a fixed total price; we do both, and for larger moves a fixed price is often the calmer choice.
How much does a typical move cost?
- Studio (under 35 m²): 2–4 hours → roughly €180–360
- 1–2 bedroom apartment (35–70 m²): 4–6 hours → roughly €360–540
- Larger apartment (70–120 m²): 4–7 hours with the bigger crew → roughly €480–840
- Detached house: 6–10 hours → roughly €720–1,200

The five things that move the price most
- Amount of stuff, not square meters. A minimalist 80 m² home can move faster than a packed 45 m² one. Decluttering before the move is the single best discount available.
- Floors and elevators. A fourth-floor walk-up adds carrying time at both ends. A booked elevator saves it back.
- Truck access. If the truck parks at the door, boxes fly. If it's 80 meters away across a courtyard, every trip takes longer.
- Packing readiness. Sealed, labeled boxes load in minutes. Loose items in open bags don't. (If you'd rather not pack at all, we do it — it just becomes part of the hours.)
- The date. Month-end weekends are peak season. A mid-month weekday is often the same move for less.
How to pay less — honestly
- Declutter first: fewer boxes, fewer hours.
- Pack and label everything before the crew arrives, and disassemble what you can.
- Pick a weekday in the middle of the month.
- Book the elevator and check the truck can reach the door.
- Reserve early — good dates go first, and a rushed booking rarely finds the best price.

How much does moving cost in Finland?
A move inside the Helsinki capital region typically costs €180–450 for a studio or one-bedroom and €720–1,200 for a larger flat or a house. The price is built from our hourly rate — €90/h for a 20–30 m³ truck with 2 movers, or €120/h for a 30–40 m³ truck with 3 movers — plus any extras you choose. You get the exact figure in the quote.
What does the hourly rate include?
Our rate covers the truck, the movers, carrying and loading at both ends, soft moving blankets to protect your furniture, fuel, all kilometres and transport insurance. Everything else is a separately priced extra — for example stretch-film wrapping at €40 per roll, furniture disassembly and reassembly, and packing help.
Do you charge a weekend surcharge?
No. Saturday and Sunday cost exactly the same as a weekday, and there is no evening surcharge either. This is worth comparing carefully between movers, because a weekend premium is common in this industry.
How much do movers cost per hour?
Two movers with a truck is €90/h, three movers with the larger truck is €120/h. Movers cannot be hired without the vehicle: the rate always includes the truck, fuel and insurance.
Should I choose an hourly rate or a fixed price?
For a move inside the capital region the hourly rate is usually cheaper, because distances are short and you only pay for the hours actually used. For moves between cities we recommend a fixed price so you know the total in advance regardless of traffic. If you are unsure we will quote both.
What does moving to another city cost?
Long-distance moves are priced as a fixed total. Rough estimates: Helsinki–Tampere and Helsinki–Turku €390–590 for a studio and €590–890 for a two-room flat; Helsinki–Jyväskylä €490–690 and €690–990; Helsinki–Oulu €790–1,090 and €990–1,390. The €70 booking fee is credited back in the final bill.
How do I get the lowest price?
Pack yourself and take the bed apart in advance, empty every cupboard and drawer before we arrive, book the lift and a loading spot, and mention in the form if your dates are flexible — a flexible date often lets us combine your load with another job heading the same way. Those are the things that cut the hours most.
