When you move in together, the work is in decluttering, not carrying: the belongings of two homes won't fit into one. Decide first which big pieces of furniture stay, time your old leases to end together, and do the move in one load from two addresses. We don't charge extra for a second pickup address: you pay for the hours, and the drive between the addresses is part of them. Two studios into a shared two-room flat typically take 4–6 hours, so €360–540 with two movers.
List first, move second
Take the floor plan and measurements of the new home and go through the big furniture before a single box is packed. Every piece that doesn't fit gets carried twice: first in and then out again.

Two leases, one schedule
A tenant's notice period in Finland is one month, counted from the last day of the month in which you give notice. If both your old homes are rented, give notice in the same month, so both leases end on the same day and the move happens in one go. If you're moving into your partner's current rental flat, tell the landlord about the new resident. Consider at the same time whether both of you should be on the lease. That gives you both the same rights and responsibilities for the flat.
Moving day from two addresses
One move from two pickup addresses works like this: the truck is loaded at the first home, drives to the second, the load is topped up and everything is unloaded at the new home in one go. Two studios usually fit in one 20–30 m³ truck. Larger homes are done with a 30–40 m³ truck and a three-person crew.

01Label boxes by the new home
Write on each box the room it goes to in the new home, not whose things are inside. Then unloading goes straight to the right room, and nobody hunts for their socks across three boxes.
02Someone at each address
While the truck is at the second home, one of you can already be waiting at the new one to receive the load. Agree on keys, lift bookings and parking for all three addresses.
03A first-night box for each of you
Sheets, towels, chargers, toothbrushes and the coffee maker. They travel in your own car, so your first evening together starts with a made bed, not a mountain of boxes.
Paperwork when moving in together
- Change of address (muuttoilmoitus) at dvv.fi or posti.fi: each of you files your own, as you're moving from different addresses
- Home insurance: one policy for the new home starting on moving day, cancel the other
- Electricity and internet: one contract for the new address, end the old ones on moving day
- Names on the door and mailbox: notify the property manager (isännöitsijä) or maintenance company
- Kela housing allowance: it is based on the whole household's income, so report the change to Kela if either of you receives it
